To determine what would best meet your need, we distinguish between mentoring and coaching. The mentoring relationship uses more of a Socratic way of exploring topics, within which both the mentor and the client are engaged in sharing wisdom, learning, and although it is information and behavior focused, the mentoring relationship is very dependent on the relationship and purpose focused relating around the topics of importance to the client. Coaching is more directive, it is designed as a one-way alliance intended to promote skill and knowledge development. In coaching, wisdom is brought out through questioning and probing.
Both have benefit for executives and other leaders, HR and OD specialists, facilitators and consultants who seek greater health and balance in their work and in their lives. Both have benefit for building skill, capacity, competency, knowledge and increased consciousness.
