Dalar provides mentoring and coaching to Executive Level, Senior Leaders, Senior Managers and Senior Consultants. As well, for executives who feel that they would benefit from a ‘thought partner’ from time to time, Dalar provides this service on an hourly basis without a longer term commitment.
To determine what would best meet your need, we distinguish between mentoring and coaching.
“Mentoring”: State of being, transfer of wisdom, story-telling, Socratic methodology, modeling, feminine energy, information & behavior-focused, emphasis on relationship, purpose focused on client, …mentoring is always based on relationship & desires & needs of the client. Mentoring is a process whereby the mentor has wisdom that is being transferred to the mentee yet the mentor is also learning from the mentee and mentoring is thus a circular process.
“Coaching”: State of doing, pulling out/ bringing out wisdom through questioning & probing, directive methodology, skill-focused, teaching/training, masculine energy, push & pull, designed one-way alliance, stories & focus on client rather than coach, skill-building, … coaching is always based on relationship & desires & needs of the client.
Coaching is a linear/hierarchical relationship with clear boundaries including clarity that coaching is not therapy.
Both have benefit for executives and other leaders, HR and OD specialists, facilitators and consultants who seek greater health and balance in their work and in their lives. Both have benefit for building skill, capacity, competency, knowledge and increased consciousness. Both have benefit for leaders of organizations losing their wisdom (attrition), retention problems, problems of new organizations… as well as organizations ready to die if intervention is not adopted quickly…as well as organizations who are successful and seek greater success.

Contact Birgitt Williams, President of Dalar International Consultancy, Inc. to schedule a one hour appointment to discuss your needs for thought partnership, coaching, or mentoring. Dalar consultants will focus the engagement on your stated needs, including making the choice with you of which consultant is the right one for you. The relationship that is desired by all concerned must be clarified and defined. The relationship determines where emphasis is placed… and is a significant determinant in results, roles, balance, and appropriateness.
