In previous issues of this ezine, we have described two foundational stages of organizational readiness, followed by the development of engagement and commitment for organizational change. Before moving on to describing the next stage we pause to examine some perceptions regarding organizational transformation. We examine what is meant by a consensus reality and the relationship of consensus reality with organizational transformation. And as a leader, manager or consultant, if you are working with a consensus reality shift, then the need to be skillful in working with the Whole Person individually and as a collective become essential competencies for you to master if you undertake organizational change work and if you intend to create sustainability for the new state. We are working in an organization in which the staff reported to us gleefully that the last consultant had died of a heart attack and previous consultants over the last thirty years had not fared much better. They added that it was good that two of us were working as a team because we just might survive where none had survived before us. Lock On, Lock Out
Individual Health and Balance Pay attention to a phenomenon called “Lock on, lock out” As humans, we tend to lock on to certain things we perceive and as soon as we ‘lock on’ to what we believe we perceive in our reality, we end up ‘locking out’ other possibilities. You can alter this for yourself and discipline yourself to expand your conscious awareness. Yes, anyone can expand their consciousness awareness. Take a fifteen minute walk in nature. During this walk, concentrate on the things you experience, see, hear, feel and pay attention for the entire fifteen minutes. If you cannot sustain fifteen minutes of concentration, do your best to regroup every time you waver or daydream. As you develop your concentration in this way, you will notice that you are expanding your conscious awareness. You will discover a whole new world!
