The Hidden Cost of Unconscious Worldviews

Every day, leaders and organizations operate from unconscious beliefs, assumptions, and values that create unintended consequences and limit their potential for positive impact.

  • Self-Fulfilling Prophecies: Your worldview shapes what you perceive, which shapes your actions, which confirms your worldview – creating cycles that may no longer serve you or your organization.
  • Unexamined Assumptions Drive Decisions: Without conscious awareness, unhelpful beliefs and assumptions that you may be carrying guide your leadership, limiting your ability to create the culture and outcomes you truly desire.
  • Increased Conflict: When people don’t understand their own worldview or recognize that others operate from different worldviews, conflict becomes personal rather than productive.
  • Values and Actions Misalign: Leaders often struggle to achieve their goals because something invisible keeps getting in the way – the gap between their stated intentions and their unconscious worldview.

The cost of operating from an unconscious worldview isn’t just missed opportunities – it’s the disconnection between who you want to be as a leader and how you actually show up in the world.

Attending to Your Worldview Creates Conscious Leadership

Attending to Your Worldview is a powerful learning module that brings your worldview into consciousness, allowing you to examine, refine, and intentionally work with the beliefs, values, and assumptions that shape your reality and leadership.

Understand What Shapes Your Reality

Your worldview is a collection of values, attitudes, beliefs, and expectations that inform your thoughts and actions. Learn to recognize how your worldview shapes everything you see, experience, and create – and discover the agency to change it.

Reduce Conflict and Enhance Decision-Making

When you consciously understand your worldview and those of the people you work with, conflict is reduced and decision-making becomes easier. Your awareness supports you to consciously set out a collective path to the future.

Align Your Mind, Heart, and Action

Work with the often-unconscious patterns beneath your thoughts and emotions, bringing clarity about which beliefs and assumptions are best to work with when bringing your mind, heart, and action into alignment.

Create Life-Nourishing Conditions

Whether working individually, with your team, or across your organization, consciously working with worldview supports you to create more life-nourishing rather than life-depleting conditions in your work and life. This is the foundation beneath your ability to create the conditions for genuine psychological safety – because what you believe about people, at a level you may not be fully aware of, is what you build. It’s also where the perceived tension between caring for people and achieving results most often dissolves: leaders who have done this work consistently find that the two were never actually in competition.

Your Complete Learning Journey

This comprehensive module takes you through 6 phases of learning based on the Evolutionary Spiral, with each phase building upon the previous to ensure deep understanding and practical application.

How the Workshop Works

  • Format: 2 half-days intensive learning experience

  • Live Online Sessions: June 29 & 30, 2026 | 9am – 1pm EST

  • Group Size: Maximum 20 participants to ensure each person can receive maximum benefit from the participatory process.

  • After the Workshop: Access to all materials continues for one year to support your ongoing learning. Optional mentoring circles (scheduled separately) provide opportunities to discuss your implementation, share learnings, and refine your approach with others who have taken the module.

Who This Serves

This workshop is for leaders, consultants, managers, and organizational development specialists who:

  • Have clear intentions or dreams but struggle because something invisible keeps getting in the way
  • Want to align their stated values with how they actually show up
  • Are developing organizational culture and need conscious awareness of their own worldview first
  • Recognize that tensions with others may stem from different worldviews, not personal conflicts
  • Are ready to examine the often-unconscious patterns beneath their thoughts and emotions
  • Value learning in a small group where diverse perspectives deepen understanding

You don’t need prior experience with the Genuine Contact program. This module stands on its own and serves as an excellent entry point into conscious, intentional leadership.

Your Facilitators

Rachel Bolton

Rachel Bolton encountered the concept of worldview more than twenty years ago and recognized something she had not previously had language for: that the lens through which she saw the world was not fixed. Realizing she could examine and choose her worldview – rather than simply operate from the one she had grown up in – gave her a new kind of agency in her own life. She has spent the two decades since noticing how rarely worldview is named in personal or professional development, and bringing that missing conversation into the room. Rachel has been an authorized Genuine Contact Trainer since 2002 and is based in Kitchener, Canada.

Doris Gottlieb first encountered the Genuine Contact Way of Working in 2001 and has been an Authorized Genuine Contact Trainer since 2011. She has been deeply involved in the Genuine Contact community ever since. As an organizational development consultant based in Amsterdam, she works with leaders and organizations navigating change across Northern Europe. Doris’s earlier careers as an actor and intercultural communication specialist gave her a deep appreciation for how worldview shapes reality, individually, collectively, and in organizations. Making that often-invisible force conscious, and therefore workable, is something she is personally committed to.

Doris and Rachel are the co-creators of this module, collaborating as consultants and organizational leaders since 2015. The workshop grew from their shared experience with clients and their work developing the International GCO – learning what it takes to consciously work with worldview in both consulting relationships and their own leadership practice.

Frequently Asked Questions

No prior experience is required. This module has value on its own and serves as an excellent entry point into the Genuine Contact way of working. The workshop begins with foundational concepts and progresses through practical implementation.

Once you register, you will receive access to the Learning Hub – a self-paced online resource that includes background reading, reflective exercises, and an introduction to the frameworks and tools you will work with during the live sessions. Plan for approximately 4 hours of preparation, completed at any point before June 29. The pre-work is designed to make the live sessions richer and more immediately useful from the start.

The two live sessions are designed as an integrated learning experience, and attendance at both is strongly encouraged. If you anticipate a scheduling conflict, please reach out to Rachel before registering to discuss whether this offering is the right fit for your timing and how you will be supported to catch up with the learning materials.

The live sessions are held on Zoom. Collaborative activities use Miro – a shared digital workspace that does not require prior experience. You will receive orientation information before Day 1 so you can get set up comfortably in advance.

Participants come from a range of backgrounds – organizational leaders, coaches, consultants, and managers – and from organizations of many kinds, including nonprofits, NGOs, social enterprises, and purpose-driven businesses. The group is international – sessions are conducted in English, with accessibility in mind for participants whose first language is not English.

You’ll leave with a clear understanding of your preferred worldview, specific implementation plans with structures and behaviors to practice, creative touchstones to remind you of your worldview, and ongoing mentoring support. The 6-phase approach ensures you’re ready for practical application. All Learning Hub materials remain accessible after the workshop for ongoing reference.
